German Hospitals are well known for their high standard of medical care:

• highly qualified physicians, who can practice as specialists in their field only after long and intensive training
• professional nursing that really cares about the patient’s needs

Many other hospitals, which are by no means medically less competent, will however still treat international patients at official DRG prices; in this way the costs of international treatment in Germany can be reduced by 50% or more without compromising the quality of medical or nursing standards in any way. As there are more than 2000 acute care hospitals in Germany, it is not an easy task for a foreigner to understand which clinics offer services at which level.
